Nearly a year after the Public Authorities (Fraud, Error and Recovery) Act received royal assent, this Civil Service World webinar, in partnership with SAS, will explore what the Act means in practice and, importantly, what still needs to be done.
The Act has given government new powers to investigate fraud and error, recover public funds, and identify risk earlier. These include bank eligibility checks, direct recovery powers, and an increased focus on data analytics and machine learning. The challenge now is to make those powers work in practice and at scale. But with greater capability comes greater responsibility: how can departments use these tools effectively while retaining public trust?
This session will explore what has changed, what some of the current challenges are, and what ‘better’ could look like as these powers mature.
